I think this comment hit it on the nail.

No-one seems to have commented - these tweets were monitored long before Van Bryan entered the USA. Was it because he'd booked the flight? Or is paranoid America monitoring every part of the global social network? Anyone that's read the year 2000 report by the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) - a committee involving Cheney, Rumsfeld, Quayle, Wolfowitz and others (see who signed their statement of principles in 1997) can easily believe the latter. They wanted control of the "new internatio*nal commons of cyberspace*", and they did most everything else on their shopping list, including creating another Pearl Harbor and invading Iraq - which was all proposed before Bush became president. The USA is is an out of control plutocrati*c regime - be surprised at nothing.

Yea it's great to know people like this are providing security for your country, best and brightest.

Honestly if this is how the interpreted this situation, who knows how many legitimately potential threats go unnoticed due to some single digit IQ wielding mouth breather's perception of context or turn of phrase.

One of my good friends who is a Pakistani International Student got arrested on campus 2 years ago in a similar situation of ignorance (granted his race didnt help the situation).

Back story: He was at a party on campus that was hosted by the 'black student union' and there was a predominantly african american population at the party. My buddy (Zeb) was dancing with a girl with some guy walked up to him and said he couldn't dance with her. When Zeb told the guy to fuck off, the kid responded "get the fuck outta here you fucking terrorist, etc..." So Zeb respond with plenty of disdain and sarcasm "yea man, im a terrorist I've got a bomb in my shoe, go fuck yourself"(wearing flip flops) and left the party.

An hour or so later Zeb and the black kid met again at the student union Pizza hut. Black kid started more shit calling Zeb a terrorist, al queda, towel head, etc... To which Zeb replied with some equally derogation terms. Cops showed up at Zebs room a little while later, searched it, found his roommate's(film major) plastic prop pistol and arrested Zeb for making terror threats and for a bomb scare.

Yea, he probably should have said what he did but i really dont think that he deserved to spend the night in jail and pay the corresponding fees with it. Zeb is hands down one of the most intelligent and book smart people i have ever met. Its just a shame when ignorance can lead to the arrest or harassment of an individual.

Gov't employees in general specifically those working at airports are fucking morons. My mom has been held by airport security a dozen times because she has bobby pins in her hair and they set the metal detector off. A middle aged, upper middle class woman with 3 children is not a terror threat just because she set off the metal detectors. My roomate traveled with a cheap pocket knife in his carry on just to test airport security...9 flights before it was confiscated. If someone wants to do something, they will find a way.

Edit: would have been way better if he got held for saying he was going to "destroy some American Vag" bahaha

There is a bright side of this, if this kind of event gains this much attention and target of resources it's safe to assume there aren't that many situations of serious interest taking place. Sleep safe knowing British club goers are the greatest risk America faces atm :P

not sure to be impressed or scared that they even matched up a random tweet to the actual guy who did it.
I'm with the others that think this guy made the shit list long before blurting out that one.
