I straight out said he is showing disrespect to the flag.
What did I not comprehend?
You said I was defending that flag. I am not.

Thats..... just fucked up.
I can't believe the lack of respect.
If you watch the video you'd see that the guy shows absolutely no hint that he disrespects the flag. He is a veteran, after all. He's just trying to combine his support for Obama with his love of country. I don't think it turned out too well, but his intent is clearly wholly benevolent.

You can't take symbology out of context or too seriously.
Rosa Parks once said "Stand for something or you will fall for anything. Today's mighty oak is yesterday's nut that held its ground."
I hate this quote more than anything. The people who use it see it as an excuse to be hard headed and ignorant. If what you stand for is reason and logic then you won't fall for anything and you'll be free to change.
The whole argument over whether or not it's disrespectful is open to interpretation. The beautiful part about it is that he's allowed to do it and we're allowed to have this conversation. No person is going to be wrong or right on this issue and that's ok. However, you can't leverage the idea of freedom to take it away from those who wish to use it. When you do, it's no longer freedom.

Freedom doesn't excuse you from respect.
It sure does - but you're free to believe otherwise.
