Not thinking I like this continuing trend on the selling off of America.

The bank in question being purchased, The Bank of East Asia. Shocking that a Chinese corporation is interested in a business who is an offshoot of a Chinese bank!

As for the impact on the U.S. banking industry, Cohen said he “doesn’t expect to see a wave of acquisitions by Chinese banks.” Cohen said it is more likely Chinese banks will expand their U.S footprints by modest acquisitions of with under $2 billion in assets in metropolitian areas where there are large Chinese communities.

Cannon concurred, noting the entry of Chinese participants is an “incremental positive” for mergers and acquisitions activity in the small to mid-sized bank space. Cannon expects Chinese banks to focus on buying U.S banks that can enhance trade between the two countries, adding we are still a “long way” from a Chinese bank buying a large American bank.

It's quite amusing how quick people are to jump on the bandwagon and spit catch phrases Or refer to issues the media told them was incoming they've been fed by the news about a topic they've only recently become aware of yet has been going on for years. Fear is great, and lots of people (in this thread too) eat it right up.

From both sides of the argument absolutely, however the topics are vastly different. One being socially related thus being very objective, the other while more often than not being refered to objectively as well is still a falsifiable science with an absolute truth.
