Yeah, Ive never got this idea from either side that a politician should stick to his guns, no matter what. They are there to serve US. If the populace changes its mind, or the situation or information changes, you change.

If you want someone to control your life to their beliefs despite of changes in society or improvements in our understanding of the universe I suggest you take up religion, that is specifically what it was designed to do.

Its one of the reason I give Obama some slack regarding his flops like having the "most open administration in history" despite having the most closed one in 30 years. He made a lot of promises on the campaign trail that he didnt know he couldn't keep.

Now, the flat out lie about the mandate not being a tax, then reclassifying it as a tax to get around the fact that its unconstitutional for create a mandate just for being alive is bullshit and he gets no slack for that.
