Religion + Medicine = win! or not...

Savita Halappanavar (31), a dentist, presented with back pain at the hospital on October 21st, was found to be miscarrying, and died of septicaemia a week later.
Her husband, Praveen Halappanavar (34), an engineer at Boston Scientific in Galway, says she asked several times over a three-day period that the pregnancy be terminated. He says that, having been told she was miscarrying, and after one day in severe pain, Ms Halappanavar asked for a medical termination.
This was refused, he says, because the foetal heartbeat was still present and they were told, “this is a Catholic country”.
This is a prime example of why hospitals and pharmacies should NOT be allowed to refuse to do their damn jobs because of 'religious' objection.
Glad to see first world countries with their heads in the middle-aged sand.
Do your damn job or GTFO.

Should not have gone to a chaloic hospital............. should have packed her up and went across town when they refused.

While it sucks and should not have happened, you sometimes have to make a choice that's in your own best intrest

Exactly what I was thinking. Other than it's pretty fucked up that they didn't at least transfer them.
