i think you may have read my original comment incorrectly, then. let's try to be civil.
what i meant to say is that as each civilization.. mesopotamia's fertile crescent, the egyptians, greeks, romans, ottomans, chinese dynasties.. reaches higher successive achievements from standing on the shoulders of those that fell before them, they too can (and will) fall from that height, and save for remnants of their people and records of their culture, when they hit rock bottom, they had a farther fall than the last peoples to go through the process.
birth, growth, stagnation, decline, death. it's natural and repeatable, for every civilization.
