This is really sick, i have a 14 and 16 year old in high school. Everybody.....when you go home today give your kids and loved ones a big hug and tell them how much you love them. Our thoughts and prayers are with the parents and familys that have lost loved ones today .:(

Very disturbing that he shot his own mother. Shame. This is just feeding into the anti gun fanatics, shame as guns are just like any other weapon or tool for that matter. They need someone to operate it.

So I googled some news (search term "obama shooting") and from reading about the Obama speeches going on today, I see a recurring theme in all the articles I read: an overwhelming call for gun restrictions by the majority of the public. Is this really true, or is this just the media? I can't imagine why there wouldn't be an overwhelming call for arming people in public places (teachers, cwp carriers, etc) instead.

Obama did say something has to be done (and I agree), he just didn't say what.

I am still in shock and depression, and have been all day. This shooting affected me on a whole new level. The Aurora theater was bad enough with that young girl among the dead...

The biggest thing I take away from this is that there ARE people out there who WILL do things like this and there is NO way to foresee it. WTF do you do? And I can immediately rule out banning 30 round magazines as being the answer...

I heard the shooter was 20? which would indicate no, if one of the weapons is a pistol.

Both guns were legal and registered to the shooter's mother.

I've been thinking this myself. With the recent shopping center shooting here in OR, you have to wonder if the media attention pushed this guy over the edge

My thoughts and prayers are with the victim's and thier familes, being the father of a child in 4th grade this just made my gut turn inside out. Couldn't get ANY work done today. I just can't get my mind off the fact that some one could find reasoning to hurt all of those lives. 20 young kids who's lives were cut way too short, so much potential lost. I cant possibly imagine what thier parents are going through right now. R.I.P

This is awful. When I heard about this it just deppressed my day. I dont have kids (yet) but I have little siblings which I treat like my own children and as I was watching I literally started tearing idk why, but maybe because I really like kids and im a softy... I just dont understand how someone can be so cruel and murder innocent kindergardners and then just cowardly take his life out of this world. My deepest prayers and condolences to the victims family and friends.
