When CCW kills innocent people thread

I know this does not make the news much, but here is a good example on why CCW is a terrible idea.

The 20-year-old pastor's daughter who was accidentally shot in the head at her family's church has died, authorities have said.
Hannah Kelley was struck when a stray bullet went through a wall at the Grace Connection Church in St Petersburg, Florida on February 12. She was pronounced dead on Saturday.
Investigators from Pinellas County Sheriff's Office say Moises Zambrana was showing his gun to two other church members interested in buying a firearm when it accidentally fired.
    ...
Mr Zambrana, who worked on the soundboard during services, had a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Records obtained by the Times show he also is a licensed security officer.
Hannah Kelley was shot by a stray bullet at Grace Connection Church in St Petersburg, Florida during a Sunday service last weekend. She died on Saturday.

Showing off a loaded firearm has nothing to do with CCW. That's just stupidity.

1: tjts1, you are a FUCKING idiot if that was what you got out of that article

2: He completely broke the law by pulling out his concealed carry weapon to simply "show" someone it. This has nothing to do with CCW. I, someone who doesn't have a CCW, could go out in public and show someone my handgun, accidentally discharge my weapon and be in the EXACT same state as that guy. NOTHING to do with CCW.

^^^ So they used a guy who ONLY has ever used an airsoft gun? ha ha ha yeah that study isn't biased...

EDIT: finished watching the vid. A lot of truth in there, you DO need to train. But, I think there ARE people that are able to react effectively in those situations, and those are the people who tend to want CWPs, not the people that these cops picked out. It is obvious what the intended message of this video is right from the get-go.

Agreed. Problem here with this video is that they selected people at random who weren't actually pursuing a CWP. They grabbed a few people off the street. I also think they made a good point about training. You can't just obtain a CWP and think you're ready at all times.

I believe formal training and a test should be administered for a ccw. Own all the weapons you'd like and keep them at your property but if you want to carry a concealed weapon i think a lot more than just a piece of paper allowing you to should be required. Its just like taking a road test for a drivers license....you're now in control of something very dangerous if not trained or used properly.

                I could agree with that.

                  yes and yes
im not against ccw. just wanted to point out that that video or something like it would have been a bit more of a valid argument then the OP's original one.

I've said it in the other thread. Practice drawing your weapon and getting sight picture. Firearm is a tool. Requires practice to become refined in its use. I also stated practice failure drills. Tap and rack for misfire and clearing stove pipe malfunctions(google it) Of course I must state do these drills WITHOUT LIVE AMMO. They sell the orange rounds used for dry firing. These things should be done till its muscle memory. I am not a firearms instructor nor do I pretend that I am but I've had quite abit of training.

ABC did this Twice after most people pointed out the obvious bias the 1st time. Like telling the "aggressor" who had all "guns" in the beginning.

Also this is stupid test when no one treats it like its real. Yeah someone comes in my Class room, or restaurant where I am eating, or anything else where there is a lot of people confusion and concealment. You drop and get out of the line of sight and then draw and wait until you can get a good shot off. You dont stand up and fight with you piss poorly placed weapon shoved in your waist band and get is all waded up in your overly tight T-shirt. while fumbling around like a penguin trying to fly......

Yup those kids really treated both of these hit segments by ABC seriously, even some of my not so pro gun friends that have seen these and say wow how biased and Bull shit that is. They should have found some people that have at least seen a real firearm before and, and some that actually carry for those segments. When the Anti's can see though the BS, thats saying something.

The LE "professionals" that were involved with those segments should be ashamed of them selves for taking part in this disgusting propaganda.

That dude is so dumb and now has to live with a mistake that has cost someone elses life. Nothing to do with CCW as stated. He should have never removed his firearm from its storage or carrying location without needing to actually fire at a target.

That video is so biased and bullshit I cant believe that was even aired. Lets give a bunch of novices a gun, then make them wear clumsy clothes, gloves, and wear a clumsy limited visibility helmut. We will then have a profesional run into a room and immediatley target them, who we will conviently place fron and center.... No motive in that is their. You could put anyone in that situation and they will fail miserably.

They should have just put boxing gloves on them while wearing a chucky cheese cosutme, and said see no one should be given a ccw because people just arent capable.

That said i do support aditional training and a hands on test to get a ccw.
