How does any of the proposed legislation keep guns out of the hands of criminals vs law-abiding citizens? Pull up gun crime statistics in Chicago, D.C. and England after the ban of hand guns?

The "need" argument is bullshit as well. I don't need a 420hp 160mph muscle car to drive to work every day either, so find a fact-based argument instead of tired anecdotes and personal feelings.

NY is a test bed, to see how the rest of the country and the populace is going to take to it. TO see if they are just going to roll over and take it or fight it or vote with their feet. I have gotten more phone calls in the last 2 days from people I know that live in NY than I have in the last 3 months. I work in NY fairly often and with a lot of people that are form NY state as well. This is the tipping point for at least 4 families that I know personally. 2 of which are going to be listing their homes for sale in the next week or so. This is going to trigger a large migration of people from upstate, that are sick of the taxes and over bearing govt intrusions into all aspects of their lives.
Haha bullshit. That sounds a bit like all those folks that were going to move to Canada when Obama got elected. How's that working out for them?

        Ummm

        No its not.

We are not talking about leaving the fucking country we are talking about leaving a state.

People leaving a state because of Taxes, Gun laws, Car laws, and all kinds of other political reasons have been happening for a long time. How do you explain all the CA refugees fleeing to the PNW, ID, MT, AZ, NV, NM, WY, TX, UT, ect..... to get away from this same kind of shit. Or all the north easterners fleeing to GA, TX, and similar places Farbin got the fuck out SoCal to a free state, I packed my shit and got the fuck out MI to a free state, My Aunt and Uncle Left NY State (Rochester) in the early 80's because of the taxes THEN!!!!!! Dont say its bull shit because it happens every single day, and has been en mass for at least the last 2 decades (CO started getting the CA migrants in the fucking 70's )

Just because your too spineless to pack your shit an leave when someplace no longer reflects your values or you wish to support with your tax dollars, does not mean others are not.

            Quick morning reply.

No I have nothing to back up a claim that harsher punishments reduce crime. However lesser punishments for non-violent offenders would free up resources to potentially actually rehabilitate violent criminals, something which the prison system is supposed to do..

3 strike rule is hugely flawed, you have people going away for life for petty theft and drug possession.

It doesn't directly keep guns away, but if you cut off the source (legal market) the underlying issues I believe will subside to a degree as the illegal market is fueled by the legal one. The amount of change is going to be entirely dependent on how willing to conform legal owners are.

I wholeheartedly agree this is just a political stunt reacting to a specific situation, and that it is not a realistic solution. I was just saying some aspects of it will result in some positive change IMO.

And I was asking if you had any credible evidence that has given you this opinion. ;)

Or if it's based on things like the Left and the media who banned "assualt weapons" a term that wasn't in existence before the late 80s and banned rifles and accessories because they looked like Assault Rifle (a military M4 for instance). Assualt rifles (full automatic weapons) were already banned.

                      Valid point.

I see more gun owners just playing into their hands by someone getting the lead to the head and I'm not talking about the children either. This will hit the accelerator giving them yet more AMMO as to why we shouldn't have the guns. We aren't n kindergarten anymore just cause robby does it doesn't mean I will so you don't have to punish the whole group. If the ban would have have occurred before sandyhook this idiot would have used whatever or he would have still had the AR because his mom would had it registered. They only want you to register it now so when they come looking for the all out ban/removal they will know what houses to hit first.

In 2011, hunting rifles that are cosmetically similar to assault rifles were used in 0.6% of gun crimes.

                        We must do something NAO!

and when you explain that knives were used to kill 5x more people than ALL rifles not just the ones cosmetically similar to "SEAL guns" you get told how thats a cherry picked stat and there for not a valid comparison.

Its not about the weapons and keeping people or kids safe, ITS ABOUT CONTROL AND POWER. No more, no less.

if they really cared about a kids life they would 1st ban abortions as that kills way more than the ARs involved in the few recent events. I'm not even sure the kid used the AR myself. How about cigarettes killing something like 400grand a year nothing done there except a warning label and additional taxation, wtf? even after they find out chemicals are being added, its not just tobacco. I think they are going after the AR's because they know they will get the locations of where the real stashes are as everybody I know with an AR has a healthy supply of many other weapons making them the one their biggest threats. whatever...SMOKE AND MIRRORS.

Abortion, really? Take your bible elsewhere.

As far as guns are concerned, there were ~8500 gun homicides in 2011......3x that number were suicides, why are those counted with "gun violence"

Still waiting for some answers on my pervious questions.

my bible has nothing to do with those fake tears shed by obama its simply a fact abortions kill more kids than guns. I could care less what someone else wants to do, abortion or no abortion its their decision not mine however this is my point.

if it was actually about the right thing to do why wouldn't you look at the shear numbers to see how one can actually protect our childern. If that was your TRUE agenda.
