it's worth pointing out those things you hate about the region are caused by islam. and those pratcitioners of islam see israel as a threat to their lifestyle.

freeride53 knows what it takes to achieve peace in the region.

No I didn't mention anything about hate. You added that. While there I had many friends that I still talk with. It's not a religious thing.

They have different Ideologies so they don't get along and centuries of hatred is not helping vs extending an olive branch and trying to come to some degree of tolerance towards each other.

On that note I'm out as I'm not gonna argue about what to do in that region.

I believe it has to do with Ishmael and you are correct, not until Christ returns to reign will there be peace there.

no, seriously- how do you reconcile those two of your statements? trying to put the onus of hatred on me on B.S. you brought it up.

I hate the heat, That was my issue, I should have elaborated on that. When it's 125 on a daily basis for the summer it gets a bit insane. I was melting being I'm from the Northeast and I like snow and season changes.

Sand gets old too but that is tolerble when you can go 4 wheeling on a daily basis.

I thought you were trying to say I hate the people and their theology. I believe in no religion so that portion doesn't matter to me.

Lebanon, as well as Iran and Turkey, in my opinion, are the greatest places to visit in the Middle East.
I feel like Iran has the most diverse climate - my father is from way up north by the former ussr.
I guess you could say the west has a narrow-minded image of Iran in their heads - most don't know that it snows in Tehran every winter!

Although visiting Iran at the moment may be sorta shitty due to the fact that their economy is in a downward spiral.

Just don't press the government's buttons in Iran and you're cooo..

On that topic, I need to get my Iranian passport sometime soon!
Been lazy, but I'm trying to plan a trip to through the middle east and europe sometime soon. maybe next summer.

Syria is also a very beautiful place as conveyed by one of my professors last quarter...shared many great photos and such.

Think he lived there for 5 or so years.

Got teary eyed when discussing the current state of Syria, pretty sad I must agree.

This my old professor. Really nice guy.
I enjoyed hitting him up in his office hours to just talk about Mid east politics for hours.
Also, the class he taught had uniquely low enrollment last quarter 20 or so in the whole lecture hall, so it was pretty fun.

                            Syria is beautiful indeed.
I spent 2 months in and out of Damascus and Lebanon through the borders in 2009.

It's in a much better state than it was under Assad's father's rule. Shame of all the BS and destruction.
