What else in the windy city could be causing this large of a drop off in firearms related murders, other than maybe the fact criminals dont want to go to out side to criminal, when there is 4 feet of snow and a polar vortex hanging about.......

I am also willing to say I bet the CCW thing is a contributing factor to the lowered crime stats maybe not in totality since cook county has not issued all that many permits yet.

Weather is a good point. I'd be surprised if that did not have an impact.

CCW impact is negligible at best. Most crime is black-on-black in the context of the drug trade. These are people for whom gun ownership rules have as much bearing on their existence as whether or not Pluto should be considered a planet.

Most people willing to go through the hurdles of CCW are likely to be well-off or at least better-off, law abiding, and generally geographically separate from where most gun crime takes place.
