It has the monopoly on the understanding that man has rights not subject to other men. If I was an immigrant, I would surely be aware of the rights I get to exercise when becoming a citizen.

You act as if I should be happy to have my rights taken away because I could be living somewhere else. Because they are only recognized here is why hanging on to them and defending them is so critical.

They're only inalienable because you're lucky enough to be born in the United States. The US government was designed by fallible humans.

You think the US has a monopoly on the rights of man?

    Perhaps.

But, at the end of the day you're the one asking for something in exchange for nothing.

You have your criteria, I have mine.

The difference is I expect something in return whereas you are a freerider.

Actually... Since there were ~10k gun homicides last year, we can assume that those were committed with approximately 10k guns.

Your assertion is that the government, probably the Federal government in your opinion, needs to register 100,000,000+ guns because of what disturbed people do with 10,000 of them. So for every registered weapon used in a crime, there are 10,000 that are not. As least that's a success rate that the TSA could be proud of.

Having said what you've said about the *REAL* causes of crime, and how you understand that they are politically untenable, I find it *baffling* that you would advocate gun registry as a means of preventing crime, while also knowing (yes, you know, even if you don't want to admit it) that it is also completely untenable politically.

You know what works, you know that gun control does not work, you know that both are political pipe dreams, yet you still advocate for what doesn't work.

    It does, actually.

You guys whine about gun laws in one of the only countries in the world that actually lets you own weapons, more or less to your heart's content, without lifting one Cheetoh-flaked finger.

If you were unlucky enough to be born anywhere else, you'd be shit out of luck.

Gun ownership should be restricted to those who prove their worth to defending freedom, not those relying on nonsensical make believe bullshit or concocted evildoers coming to steal your cheese in the middle of the night.

Fruit smoothie's comments were about how stupid I am because I am opening myself up to liability and hassle from the police. If they show up asking about this old lever action .22 used in a robbery, I'll gladly invite them in and offer them a cup of coffee while I dig the bill of sale out of the safe. It's not like the swat team is going to bust down my door or even more ridiculously be charged with a crime without any other physical evidence.
