Arbitrary? Someone's standards included 74 school shootings since Sandy Hook, which were so loose that it was easy to identify that almost half of them as being false.
In order to start a discussion about an "epidemic", the epidemic has to be verified. Claims that there is an "epidemic" should be more than posited and shown as legitimate.
All you have to do is Google "how many school shootings since sandy hook" and the search engine pulls up pages upon pages of news sites and blogs quoting the 74 figure.
False narratives are taken as fact and then repeated ad nauseum. How can you have a discussion when people don't really know what they are having a discussion about?

Another week, another school shooting

Not horrific enough to meet your arbitrary standards for discussion, great.
At least I can look forward to not seeing any further posts from you in this thread.Leave a comment:

It would depend on the details of those 40 shootings. However, if they were truly horrific, I would imagine they would be on network news. Especially since the topic du jour is school shootings. So I have doubts about the 40 number. If it were say...north of 10 legitimate school shootings from crazed psychopaths, then a discussion could be warranted.Disregard the source and continue discussing it with the correct facts.
Are you going to claim that 40 school shootings isn't something worth discussing? State it outright if that's what you believe but if you are unwilling to discuss the corrected facts you should see yourself out of this thread.
So, no. Unless the veracity of the 40 shootings can be proofed, no discussion coming from me. Crimes of passion, gang related, accidental shootings, etc should be removed from the debate. Can't control those events without waving a magic wand and having all guns disappear from existence.

If almost half of the numbers they claim are indeed false, that is an intentional distortion of reality. I never once intimated that the other 40 didn't happen.
I did intimate that when someone tries to legitimately debate a topic and knowingly distorts the facts, there can be no discussion. If they are willing to lie about establish facts, what makes you think any fruit will come from the debate?
Edit: I see where you got that I was blowing off the other 40. But I was referring to the intent of the source was to tell a lie. If they wanted to edit their "facts" to reflect the truth, then an honest discussion can be had.

Yes, I clicked on it already.
That's why I said, if he has discounted 34 of the shootings, that still leaves 40.
You then proceeded to intimate that even 40 is a fabricated number, so I asked for a source.Leave a comment:

That is still a lie being told and then regurgitated by people.
If one side of the discussion is dishonest, there is no way to debate.

If I counted his tweets right, that still means there 40 school shootings in the last 18 months. That's still a ton.http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014...what-he-found/
