The short of what I was referring to was that fracking does a number of things to our potable water: as you said it's a thirsty process. so one of the things it does is pulls water at incredible amounts and drops homeowners water tables. Farbin pointed out that he has a well that's only 75 feet deep. I've read and seen reports of people having to drill as deep as 300 feet to get to water.

The corporations also don't really have to abide by boundaries. If I lived next to you and we each had a well and we each used a fair share of the water *under* our property lines then we'd probably coexist just fine. but if I take my straw and send it on a diagonal *under* your property and drill down hundreds of feet below your well, I can tap "your" water resulting in your well going dry.

in addition to just water use, these companies have been exempted from regulation in regards to how much they use *and* the impacts they have on the water table. now we're getting reports that people's wells that still work are polluted and this has been attributed to the toxic slew that results from fracking.

My other point was about nuclear waste. If you'd like to look up more on that subject check out what's going on with Hanford Nuclear Site in Washington.

Gov. Jay Inslee said the leaking material poses no immediate risk to public safety or the environment because it would take a while to reach groundwater

My overall point was that private corporations are sucking and fucking our nation's potable water and the issues we're seeing in detroit are going to become nationwide. over time we're going to see these kinds of issue hitting impoverished communities and communities of color harder than other communities.

you can see how this applies in detroit, or for family ranchers in texas, or small farmers in imperial valley. across the board people without a lot of politics, social, and economic capital are going to get the short end of the stick.

so unless you are part of an extremely small sliver of this nation's wealthy, you have an oar to row in this boat along with the UN's position that drinking water should be a basic human right. because if it isn't, then don't expect to live long in the next couple decades unless you have a *lot* of disposable income to spend on things like drinking water.

one could say it falls under the penumbra of rights in the US Constitution. one will *not* say that, unfortunately, because the USSC is squarely on the side of corporations for the time being, but consistent with how past rulings found that even though the right to privacy is not actually in the Constitution it wouldn't make sense to have those other rights without the right to privacy. That's the penumbra (penumbra is like a hazy outline that kind of shadows the sun during an eclipse. you can see the edges of it even if it's not quite right in front of you.) of rights that the court has established must exist for the others to make any sense.

likewise, it doesn't make sense to have a right to bear arms or right to freedom of speech if we don't have a right to drink water. it's hard to comprehend how one could secure a right to carry a gun and defend personal liberty if that liberty didn't include the right to do the most basic function of human life--drinking water.

Reading comprehension for an educator leaves something to be desired, I said 17ft., not 75ft.

Yes, by calling them "Blacks" as opposed to the accepted terminology that makes this group inclusive of the American concept, ideals and system, you are continuing to make them what could be considered a separate but equal group, as opposed to a part of an all-inclusive group. Sounds like propagating segregation to me.

I have you on ignore so I have to go back and view your posts one by one. it's a tedious process when I actually care to restate something that you wrote.

how does stating that someone has a 75 foot well when that person wrote 17 foot have anything to do with "comprehension?" You should probably look that word up before incorrectly using it in public...especially when you're trying to insult someone.

that said, if that and this "Black American" terminology issue that you're trying to muster against my posts are the best you can do then have a nice day :)

By showing that your Ivory Tower is so high in the clouds that all you want to do is spout what you think without taking the time to fully read and comprehend the comments being made in a thread you seem to hold yourself in such high esteem in. Without the ability to be a good listener, you cannot be a good speaker, and you show that the only thing you want to listen to is the sound of yourself speaking, and what others say has no bearing upon your thought process. I'm not insulting you, I am making an observation that is obviously outside of the viewpoint of the blinders you are wearing that only allow you to see such a small sample of reference as opposed to the bigger, or full picture.

Also stating someone is on your Ignore List is further proof that you have no interest in being part of a dialog, only wanting to spout your side without taking into account the statements of others in a conversation, the equivalent to shoving your fingers in your ears when anyone else speaks and screaming at the top of your lungs, but expecting everyone else to stand by with baited breath to hear what words of wisdom you will provide us with when you decide to speak to us without charging the exorbitant salary an educator of your pedigree receives regularly.

WTF, we have an ignore list?! Can't seem to find it any where. Mind pointing the direction? I have a few people to add.

there's nothing in there about a comprehension problem...except as it pertains to your inability to comprehend the point I was making.

Some people, like yourself, have shallow wells that produce water whereas people in Texas next to companies that are fracking are having to drill down hundreds of feet deeper than they used to in order to get good water.

It's not particularly relevant whether your well is 7, 17, or 75 feet because they are all shallow compared to 300+ feet wells, which is the point I was making. That's a point of comprehension that you are demonstrating you're failing at understanding. A typo or clerical point of error is not an error of understanding.

The 75 came from you stating that you are 750 feet from a water source. I was operating off memory of what you wrote. I retain more information about the senseless posts you make trying to insult me than warranted, that's for sure.

Yes because Fracking is ruining ground water when its taking place nearly a mile or more below the even the furthest depths of even the deepest aquifers. Put you "gas land" back in your pipe and smoke it.

How is it butthurt? It seems to be an accurate description of the purpose of the ignore function as implemented by some folks.

When he admits that he's clicking the posts individually and still responding, he's most certainly using it as a noise filter. If he was really using it he wouldn't end up responding to certain posters at all.

Not quite. It means he can selectively pick which posts he wants to respond to and can choose to not see any anyway.
