What grinds me about the whole "conflict" arethe proponents suggesting Israel to be bullies. I have no doubt if the Palestinians had the same weapons and military proficiency as the Israeli's they too would be using their "might" and then all the fence sitters would be trying foul of the bully that is Palestine.
Unfortunatley I never see an end to the hostilities in this region, well maybe if someone just levelled the entire area then there shall be no religious shrines for either side... Ok, probably not.

Which one keeps building settlements in Palestinian lands? Who keeps bulldozing houses without due process? Who continues the policy of collective punishment against civilians?
You need to educate yourself on this, you're not presenting anything remotely close to reality.Comment

So if a Canadian kills 3 kids who are studying abroad, does that mean we can invade Canada and take their high quality herb and poutine?
Unfortunately, I don't think this conflict will ever end. Israel refuses to be reasonable (they would have been gone in '73 if it weren't for Nixon) and that area has now grown up with generations of war.
Syria, ISIS/Iraq/Kurds, Israel/Palenstine, covert funding of terrorist groups by the Saudi's and Iranian's..............that area is perpetually screwed.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Jews historically found tolerance if not better living situations within the Ottoman Empire over Christians. They were even more welcomed than under the Byzantine empire. So England held Egypt around WWI for the suez canal and was later given the mandate of the land known as palestine by the league of nations when the remnants of the ottoman were being carved up.
Since the zionist movement was strong within many of the allied governments they had their promise (balfour declaration and such) for a jewish state of israel in paelstine. All those centuries of dominantly one culture being upturned by 30 years of foreign powers with no legal claim to the land. Sleeve here and others who will agree to that 'legal' claim then will have to stand for imperialism which the last time I checked was not a given power within the constitution and not something the founding fathers would have wanted if history has told us anything.
If you see that a land that was dominantly arab/muslim for centuries just lost its sovereignty by foreign western governments and the international Jewry, you'd understand their anger just a little bit. That's why the nations surrounding Israel didn't see its legitimacy and why I still don't. And the more it becomes the "nazi" state while profiting from the holocaust industry the more they lose that legitimacy imo.
Being polish, I understand how a nation feels being under anothers' rule. It's something thats on your mind every day a struggle that never stops. Most of the western world was glad to see the wall fall. Israel seems to have taken the role of the USSR and no one seems to have seen the correlation. (yes being a bit dramatic)

I think you forgot to mention how that situation would be if Canada fired 1300 rockets at us and then we discovered a tunnel they had built. A tunnel used for funneling militants to go commit mass civilian murdering. Only after all that happened to Israel and after hamas wouldnt agree to a cease fire did Israel invade. So if a Canadian kills 3 kids who are studying abroad, does that mean we can invade Canada and take their high quality herb and poutine?

The bulk of the matter is that innocent people are being killed all the time. Fuckin' shame. Over what? Opinions?
Humans have very basic needs. Food, water, shelter and love. That's it. The rest is a bunch of selfish, ego-tripping mania.
What God? Where? Show me.Comment

This ignores the obvious problem of how is it legal for israel to continue a naval blockade for 8 years.I think you forgot to mention how that situation would be if Canada fired 1300 rockets at us and then we discovered a tunnel they had built. There's only one side that's committing mass civilian deaths, and it's not the Palestinians.Comment

I will agree that the naval blockade can be extreme at times. Such as what type of humus they can import. But let's not forget that the Palestinians or Hamas are the reason for the blockade. If the hamas would come to any sort of terms for peace aka stop firing thousands of missiles at civilians then the blockade probably wouldn't exist today.
Regardless of who took whose land and all the other political history. One fact remains that Israel is the only country any of you on this forum would want to visit or live in. Israel does a great job running their county amongst other countries who can't keep their shit together.

"Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who!"

Seriously though, there is no long term solution to the middle east conflict(s). They are all a bunch of religious zealots that lay claim to the same bit of earth with very different ideals. Also these younger generations are growing up with this war mentality and built in hatred for the other side. It's not going to end pretty for either side.Comment

The blockade has been going on for 8 years; don't pretend that the Palestinians have been firing rockets day after day for 8 years because that's not remotely accurate.I will agree that the naval blockade can be extreme at times. That's some piss poor rationalization right there. Criticism of a country's behavior has nothing to do with where you or I want to live.Regardless of who took whose land and all the other political history. It seems some in this thread and most in America base their opinion on this matter with only the filtered down surface level of facts.
There are people on both sides of the spectrum in that area but most do want peace. Palestinians and Israelis don't naturally want to kill each other.
There are videos of different news reporters pumping up random 'angry' crowds when reporting live on TV. So much of what we know and see is controlled. Perpetual war around the world (WWIII). The UN has failed to stop 65 wars since its founding and has done nothing to investigate assassinations of democratically elected officials while supporting unelected ones.
Mitch. Literally Google this conflict from a non Jewish source for like 1 minute.

Stop making stupid comparisons. Canada isn't under military occupation.I think you forgot to mention how that situation would be if Canada fired 1300 rockets at us and then we discovered a tunnel they had built. I've been to almost every country in the region. They all have their problems and they all have their strengths. I wouldn't want to live in any of them.Originally posted by mitch55Regardless of who took whose land and all the other political history.
