ok, so neither of you has explained why there is a difference between a "banker" and a "hedge fund manager". just saying there is and expecting me to take you at your word (as either "a student [emphasis on "student"] currently studying this topic" or, well, "just some guy") is not good enough.

The distinction is significant, if for no other reason than the fact that hedge fund managers get extraordinary bullshit tax exemptions for no other reason than the fact they're rich and handling the investments and wealth of other rich people.

Not too much material but will add what Oliver said about this. My earlier comment though sinna was that the difference between Argentina and the USA defaulting is that the USA gets to suspend backing the dollar by specie and then printing more money.

I guess though that this being tried in an american court in the first place means that they borrowed under US law instead of their own which is indeed, they done goofed. On the surface these hedge funds provide a necessary service but the intentions are anything but.
