Can't lie, I was super worried on 9-11. In El Paso, next to Juarez, where I've heard ISIS is planning an attack on us. Was warned by certain people (with acronym jobs) who said they may hit the fuel refinery where I work because it could destroy our city. On 9-11, we had extra security, helicopters, and more I'm sure flying around all day. Pucker factor was high. Oh, and a bomb threat like 4 days prior and downtown shut down due to suspicious package the following day. Are we scaring ourselves, or is it legitimate concern?sigpic

I would say the threat is minimal to us out here. Needless to say, it is awful what everyone out in the Middle East has to endure.Comment

Al Qaeda's stated goal was jihad against the US. Bin Laden issued his fatwa in 1998.
ISIS' stated goal is establishing the Caliphate. They have their hands full with that right now in Iraq and Syria. In fact, it would be a serious strategic mistake for them to engage/enrage us the way Bin Laden did. I don't expect the US is a target for them unless we make ourselves one (oh, say, by conducting air strikes). Even if we are a target, air strikes to reduce their capabilities combined with ground offensives to make them fight for their survival mean that they won't have enough resources to be conducting remote attacks against us.
That being said, I don't think Iraq is going to engage them on the ground at all. I think Iraq will just keep on letting us drop bombs on ISIS so that the Iraqi military doesn't have to do anything. We've made the situation difficult for Iraqi government... if they still can't beat ISIS even after the US has softened ISIS considerably, the Iraqi government loses serious face. There's no incentive for them to take the risk, especially when they can just sit back and do nothing while we drop bombs.
All of that being said, I don't work in the Intelligence community, so I don't have access to the juiciest info...Comment

I would worry more about Ebola than ISISISISISISISISIS. We could have a whole thread on Alex Jones. There are a lot of layers to his story. I'd take anything I read on infowars with a grain of salt, and also it is laughable to say "hurrr you must liek fox newz" when they are just as bad as any other mainstream media source. Donpeople still watch TV?Comment
