About time. Should of been years ago. Then again, the EU shouldn't ever of happened.

Please the EU is a perfectly reasonable idea, its just been taken advantage of now because of assholes. I do agree border checks should come back temporarily though.

A couple of un elected officials in brussels, who are completely out of touch with the public, making decisions without any consent of the people they rule. It's another giant bureaucracy that was meant to be abused. Of course it's a horrible idea. Just look how it was sold to most of the people of those nations. As an economic zone... not a political one.

You do know many wanted the economic zone portion of it right? Some of those countries could find it hard to have a prosperous economy against big players, so they joined the EU to benefit their economies.

A big portion of it was to benefit increased tourism too, tourists dont want to exchange their money in every single country 100 miles down the line.

The economic zone, specifically the Schengen borderless alliance is just fine. The problem is that when borders between countries became non-existant, the EU didn't strengthen outside borders, especially land-sea borders. Customs officers who used to check the IDs of millions of people traveling cross-border in the past pretty much became postal customs officers. What is missing is a thorough identification of anyone entering from outside.
Now countries that jail illegal immigrants with zero ID, as the law requires, are being called xenophobic and accused of violating human rights, while imprisonment and subsequent deportation (back outside the EU, not to Germany) would be the correct and lawful thing to do. Countries that are building fences to stop illegal travel (not EU resident travel) are being questioned by hypocritical idiots in Brussels. Smugglers are profiting millions of euros each month and noone is even attempting to stop them.

There is only one reason for France or Germany to renew border control (not borders in reality) and that is to keep illegals out. The bigger problem they face though is that they already have hundreds and thousands inside, so its a bit too late to start checking IDs now. The only reasonable solution would be mass deportation.
