    9/11 and it's been 15 years

Been nearly a generation since it happened. Wondering if our country will see an attack.

Yup. Been 15 years. Terrorists were Saudis but Iraq has been invaded and destroyed. Weapons of mass destruction still haven't been found.

Oh well. Good job Bush and Blair... ;-(

Lots of people capitalized on all those peoples deaths and got rich. Thats the sickest part of it to me. Even the Bin Laden family owned parts of large defense contractors that made money off 911 and the wars that stemmed off of it.

I mean his administration did make up stories of WMD's to justify a war in iraq... when it was the saudis who were behind the attack.

Yea, because it was 100% Bush's decision to go to war...

"To begin with, numerous foreign intelligence agencies also believed that Saddam Hussein had an active WMD program. The "intelligence agencies of Germany, Israel, Russia, Britain, China and France" all believed Saddam had WMDs. CIA Director George Tenet also rather famously said that it was a “slam dunk” that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq."

"Additionally, many prominent Democrats who had access to the same intelligence that George Bush did came to the same conclusion and said so publicly. If George W. Bush lied, then by default you have to also believe that Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, John Edwards, Robert Byrd, Tom Daschle, Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders also lied. Some of them, like Hillary Clinton, even alleged that Saddam was working on nuclear weapons.

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.” — Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002"

Tl;dr - Everyone believed that Iraq had WMD's and possibly an active nuclear program.

He led the charge on it, his administration propagandized the necessity of it and spent a lot of effort selling it to the public. Congress should be blamed for their part, but it doesn't excuse the executive in any way.

everyone in this thread should read the chilcot report, it's quite damning of UK and US leadership in their efforts to push the war.

And that was part of the US support in a proxy war against Iran. Ask Rumfeld about that... I won't quote a particular paragraph because each one deserves to be read.

US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld helped Iraq build up chemical and biological weapons, it was revealed last night

Bush and Blair shall one day be trialed as war criminals.

Tony Blair and George W Bush should be taken to the International Criminal Court over their role in the Iraq war, Archbishop Desmond Tutu says.
