But both parties are the same....

Im glad he manned up, resigned, and gave a good statement saying that even if he doesn't agree with the accounts some people have brought up, that they need to be heard and respected.

certainly we liberals should police our own- but was he the highest-value target in this witch hunt?
Highest value target universally, no. Highest value target for the Democrats, yes (along with Conyers, who has tremendous pressure to step down as well).

I think Franken ended up being somewhat a victim of circumstance in that the Democrats don't want to be viewed as hypocrites by earlier deriding Trump for his actions toward women while not taking the same, if not stricter stance toward members of their own party.

If Franken would have been supported by the Dems it would have sunk any moral high ground that the Dems were perceived to have had (not arguing that the perception is the reality so no one lose their shit). Conyers needs to go next if the Dems are really intent on situating themselves as the party of right in relation to issues of sexual harassment against women.

gwb, do you think there's never been a liberal that pulled himself up by his bootstraps? because, hi. *waves*
nope, i have friends that fit the description that are quite liberal, and willing to parse ideas without getting mad or upset, or lowering themselves to personal attacks.

i'm getting tired of the arguing from both sides, although i believe the left in America are far more guilty of intolerance to anyone with different opinions than the right are. it's similar to Beserkly in the 60's and 70's when i lived in the south bay area.

Mueller, Franken, Conyers and the left will ensure Trump's re-election. The power of a free internet and the ability to argue against news stories when they are blatant political lies is in part why Trump won the election. It's going to get worse imho.

Im not sure GWB is a real human being anymore.

The cognitive dissonance that the Republicans cannot be held to any standards, but that Democrats are the worst people on earth and will ensure another Trump Victory is hilarious.

Going further, you talk about internet freedom, when your chosen party is literally on a crusade to end the Internet Freedom you've been given. Citing false figures like, this regulation hurts start ups (it doesnt), that before the regulations the ISPs never blocked things (which is wrong, they were blocking all VOIP for years until they got sued for it).

although i believe the left in America are far more guilty of intolerance to anyone with different opinions than the right are.

dude, i don't like republicans any more than i like democrats. both parties, for the most part, are self serving mobs, aptly called part of the swamp.

the left shouts down dissent, it's been their calling card since i was young enough to pay attention. the left plays the race card when threatened even thought he left resisted civil rights legislation.

show me where the right has organized the equivalent to antifa, the "resistance", or where the "right" leaning press resulted in 90% negative press coverage for an incoming president's fist year in office.

you're blinded by your own prejudice

You mean the history class that brings up how most of the 'Historic' Civil War statues were put up during times of Civil Rights movements to antagonize and 'get back' at the people striving for equal rights?

The history class that points out that in the past 150 years Republicans are no where near where they were when their party started?

George, conspiracy websites and confirmation bias are not history books.

I honestly can't believe you think that the negative press for Trump was unjustified, the dude bragged about groping woman, makes crude statements on twitter daily, and spends less time working and more time complaining then any person I've ever met.

Beyond that he has lied more in office then Pinocchio.

Ill have you know I am intolerant of some ideas, like going after high school kids when you are 32 for one.

you make the constant mistake of thinking I am pro-republican. I'm not!

I'm not a Trump fan either, and am certainly less of a Clinton fan. Trump's a hard guy to like. I do however approve of much he has accomplished.

And you do realize that with Moore in Alabama, he was accused by two women one of which has her own stepson calling her a liar, and the other's brother was sent to prison by Moore. Not saying what they allege didn't happen, just that it's not so black and white. Moore is unfit because of his political views IMHO. He's a certifiable whack job.

I do find it ironic that for a political party that likes to accuse the right of misogyny and having an anti-woman bias, that 98% of the accused sexual harassers are all left wing.

no, when you get out of the Air Force, if you've flown the right planes, you sit either right seat or are 1st officer.

$200k may be stretching it a little, but not much. There is a shortage of pilots and companies like Delta where half my extended family work pay up for qualified pilots with seat experience.

ok had to search for your original question. Are you equating public schools with socialism?

No, it is not socialism for a couple obvious reason:
                        1. the voting public is free to change the structure and requirements of public education by voting.
                        2. there are alternatives to public education that fulfill the basic education requirement like religious schools, and home schooling paid for with private funds.

The entire education system is controlled by the public who are free to modify and change it.

It seems like the people of Alabama have spoken tonight. And it is a relief for the Republicans that child rapist Roy Moore hasn't been elected. Now let's hear from the Orange dude. More entertainment's coming. It looks like it's the House of Trump that is self destructing... ;-)

i was sort of surprised by his civil response.

Republican Senate majority shrinks to one seat after race tainted by sexual assault allegations. President Trump, who backed Moore, congratulated Jones, as the GOP Senate candidate refused to concede.

the pendulum is already on the way back left. that didn't take long.

That state has been republican for a quarter of a century. At the last presidential election, the Republicans won by a huge 28 points margin. Yup very red state. But it took three awfully bad republican figures to change all that. Luther Strange. Roy Moore. Donald Trump.

And yes indeed. Trump's (most likely scripted) reply was polite. But it is in the coming days that what he really has in mind will come out. And claiming that "the deck of cards" was against Moore is definitely a very bad excuse considering that Alabama is VERY Republicans.

Roy Moore was not a hugely popular figure in Alabama. In 2012 he only won his race for Chief Justice by ~4 points

Moore was elected chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court on November 6, winning 51.8 percent of the vote over Robert S. Vance.

He was not the typical landslide republican candidate in Alabama.

Not sure if Trump helped or hurt. Has anyone heard any turnout results from counties near where Trump campaigned?
