As I suspected, my reinforced diff seized yesterday. However - it seems to be able to take quite a beating now (numerous launches with launch control). It still runs with 4wd, just the diff has seized. It may be only a lubrication problem or maybe my diff assembly is too tight now.

Just ordered the parts for the evo2. I'll leave some "working tolerances" for the gears and make some lubrication passages.

Other than that - car runs great.

Nice build. Can we get some pics of the motor, turbo, and mani setup?

I just can't imagine how much fun it would be to destroy the Evo-n-STi crowd.

Even a quick 4 wheel burnout at a stoplight next to an Evo would be damn near worth the price of admission...and the ticket!
I would not stop in that car.

I like how the speedo just kinda gives up towards the end of the vid! It's like, "Awe fuck! I'm bailing!"

              Epic build!

Godamnit Finland!! Can we have a scandinavian sub forum? I mean 500+hp m20's are becoming a dime a dozen over there.

                                Thank you for the appreciation.

I dumped the reinforced stock diff idea. When I opened it I found out that it was broken - again (5th one). It might work if done right (right tolerances for gears and right welding technique). Still I think it's pretty hard to get it right.

Here's few pics of the reinforced unit:

I'm currently working on much better idea. I found a suitable LSD unit from ZF that can be fitted to ix stock differential case. It takes quite much machining, but it's the first one that I've seen that is even doable. Halfshafts need to be changed too. I've got an idea to those too, but nothing solid yet. If these turn out to be working ideas, I think my front driveline worries will be gone. These new parts are a LOT stronger than ix stock.

And they need to be. I just sold my current engine and new engine will be ready for next summer. It's a fully forged 2,8L m20 with some wild stuff in the head. :p Also going to update turbo and exhaust/intake manifold. Will be starting with ~600-700hp with 98octane and at somepoint convert to e85. Engine will be built for e85. Hoping to see 900+hp.

                                1,5kg/hp and 4wd should be fun. :D
