ok but the maintenance of a new car is also exactly the same as e30

you mean, is it better to buy a new car and maintain it half as much?

btw, both the mobil 1 ads are completely unscientific. They are also closed unsupervised and COULD be totally fake. And they were so expensive no one would even attempt to disprove them.
The implied test shows that synthetic oil works

in response consumer reports did a test

that proves that in real life it doesnt, for this era of cars and several newer ones. There was actually no difference found between any brand or type of oil used. Even using the wrong grade.

Nobody did the cheapo brand oil million mile challenge, but all data shows that it would make it a million miles no problem at all.

no synthetic oil company has ever presented any evidence that synthetic oil prevents any more wear than conventional oil in cars to this day...just that it lasts longer.

thats because merc is known to be unreliable
Mercedes has a million mile club with the most members. Those are cars that made it to a million miles in real operating conditions.... bmw has very few.

mercedes used to be known as one of the most reliable brands.
      volvo too.

since the 80s bmw and mercedes are both way below average as far as all models... the 7 series is at times the least reliable vehicle for sale and it devalues a lot compared to mercedes.

The e30 325 is possibly/probably the most reliable bmw ever made.

The reason the mercedes could only make it to a million kilometers?

Probably that it used a timing chain. timing chains put metal in the oil.

At least it had that one disadvantage, the mercedes they chose was more modern.

Mobil 1 didnt even try to get to 1 million km with any modern bmw like an e36 plus so you could say that maybe mercedes is more reliable now?

Either test like anyone has said isnt really realistic. any engine can make it too long if its always at operating temperature.

But it is noted they chose the m20 for a million miles ( mobil 1 15 50). Im sure that means its among the most reliable engines of its era. it doesnt mean its the only one that could... but its on the list. They werent really trying to sell bmws, in fact they chose it sort of to show
"if we can make this bmw go a million miles, then your honda accord will definitely"
They were trying to sell oil not bmws.
