    That is awesome!

A manual on-the-tree still has the same H pattern?

yep it's an H pattern, just on the steering column. I find this so hilarious We rarely see trabants anymore in my country.

No big deal. It's the same shift pattern, just on the column. It's not nearly as weird as its made out to seem. Props for the 2 stroke car though, even if the video appears to be in slow motion.

not really answering your question as far as the mechanics but im sorta sure that was the standard shifter position on most older cars however commonly "3 on the tree" rather then 5.

Two strokes ftw--I love my YZ250. Too bad that thing is slow as hell.

Yep, three on the tree 4 on the floor. First four gears seemed like a standard H pattern but 5th looked like it was funky in that car.

I could never shift that fast on the tree. When I was living in Japan, we had a Bongo van that was a 2 stroke 5 on the tree and 4wd, but was never would be consider race car.

There was Wartburg at the $2010 GRM Challenge, but it had a Suby flat four out back powering it. Didn't look anything like that car, though, it was a '69.
