Nice work TJ you have some of the most kick ass photos I've seen in a while.

Your web stuff needs work though. Mainly your type. Try to limit the number of faces and avoid laying type over pictures.

Hope you don't mind constructive comments rather than the obligatory "you're my hero" comments that will be mostly likely be posted.

I can dig it, your photos are sick. I like the style you design in, I can't ever really emulate that style no matter how I try.

          I have a port too:
Mines old 9really old work) ones at:www.havokproductions.ca and the New one I am working on (html is easier to update):www.havokproductions.ca/htmlport/testindex.htm (only graphic and flash are up)

I am more "all around" multimedia, and such, but I just got a JR web designer job here at www.onlinecommunity.com I get to mentor someone so I am looking forward to learning a lot.

Nice tj, although it looks like you cheated in the sports photography section. That regular footed guy tailsliding down the stair set, it looks like he just set the board there, and stood on it and was like "Okay take a pic!!!" lol, I might be trippin but look closely you'll see what i mean. The ocean/surf shots are beautiful, you seem to have really caught the essence in those, and i am a big fan of the urban/architecture photowork. Keep it up man, your site looks awesome.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

                Thanks everyone!

I've actually studied typography before and I know I usually break the rules, especially on this site. I try to stick to 2 fonts in the graphics and one on the ASCII type. I don't mind putting text over images though. I do appreciate the honest comments though.

Dave, I really like those sites. The old flash one is really cool, I love the concept of the bike being hobbies, the phone being contact, etc.

prestige: you are right, I haven't been very happy with any of the skating pics I have taken so far. They are too static and lack any motion. That one wasn't staged but it looks like it could be. I just got this camera about 3 weeks ago so I am still learning the ropes. I just wanted to get some shots up to start off the galleries.

Looks good man. Love the photography, the site is a little different. I do the webdesign thing aswell. I am trying to move more into 3d movies and stuff and flash to make my company site, for the most part its just photoshop and dreamweaver with some coldfusion and MYsql thrown in there. I wish i had a nicer camera to do my photography with. In the meantime i just use stock photo sites like morguefile.com and sxc.hu . Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the honest reply. They key is to know when to break the rules.

I do find it funny that a lot of people on this site (and I'm not targeting you TJ) would be all over someone for making his car 'rice' or extole the virtues of a 'clean' car and yet have what I would call questionable taste in web sites (again not ragging on you specifically).

But hey each to his own.

Again though, the photos are really good, keep it up.

Hey, we all have different taste right? I am my biggest critic and I don't think my web design nor my photography is anywhere near where it could be but I'm working at it.

I made this portfolio in about 2 hours as well. Just an idea that popped into my head. If you actually pick apart the site, its hilariously simple. But it gets the job done and looks pretty good, so I am happy.

Amen to that. If we didn't we'd all be like Jordan...

It's funny though that you mention my typography, because I'd say my biggest struggle when designing is deciding on fonts and such. It's such a hassle for me.

Yeah it can be a bit of a pain.

Some tips, take them or leave them. ;)

A good choice for body copy on a site is Verdana, it's a much better chioce in my opinion than the usual Arial.

Something to avoid like the plague is centre justified type. It's always better to have a right rag for readability than centre justified type. Don't mix centred type with left justified type.

Pay attention to some sort of grid. Establish relationships between spaces on the page. If a margin between one group of type is 20 pixels then use 20 pixels for other spaces.

I know by looking at your photos that you have a good sense of composition, let that sense carry through into your page design.
