my daytona would slip in 5th on the hi-way when i gave it gas and it started to build boost. But aslong as it did not get any grip in 1st or 2ed it would be fine till it hoked up then the clutch would go up in smoke.

Opposite for me, 1st and 2nd gripped fine, when i hit 3rd, it slipped so bad i couldn't even see boost without it practically free revving to redline. Same went for a friend of mine's car.

Ever had a slipping clutch...? If so, what gears did you really notice it slipping? ;)

I did a 1970 AMC AMX 390 4spd. slipped in 1st,2ed,3ed and not in 4th. That thing could not keep a clutch in it.

It's actually the higher gears that get the most strain...it's kinda hard to explain while i'm a tad drunk. Think of it as pedaling a bicycle and when you get into say 15th and above gear how much strain it takes to force yourself moving compared to the lower gears.

The car is over coming a tad more aerodynamics than you on your bike as well. :P

They're not very practical for the street anyway, sounds like a police siren in your ears.

A buddy of mine has 5th and 6th gears straight cut in his Jetta.
Why would he do those gears? They have the least strain on them generally, I could understand strait cutting 1-4, leaving 5 helical, but not the other way around.
