i disagree with your idea that this is a product of a fucked childhood unless kidR said so.
i've seen the same, be it my family and my girlfriend's. both of which lack ill experiences - sexual/abnormal childhood.

Looks good to me, I like a more varied color balance
though (quote to first pick) the radiating thing doesn't
do it for me. Think of the Northern Lights, how colors
bleed into each other. Very detailed, I would go back
in and micro fill shadows with a .03 lead though, smaller
shadows are what usually makes a picture pop more.

Definetly learn Photoshop.
