I am trying to come up with ideas for my next stereo install and I would like to see some pics of amp racks you guys have. I especially remember seeing an M3 with an amp rack built into the rear seat if anyone has that picture. I tried searching for it but I think it was from before the forum got reset.
pic request: amp rack

You talking about that big old Orion HCCA2100 in the rear seat? Nice looking install that was.
Of course, your local resident installer-dood is too fucking lazy to ever take or post pics...

someone on here did the most involved amp wiring work, that noone will ever see. He routered grooves for the wires in some mdf. do a search,.
Personally (and I'm sure someone will call this a bad idea), if there is space between wooferbox and rear deck I'd make a compartment to mount amps on top of box with some PC fans for ventillation. Otherwise just mount on back of box.
Ken's pretty functional and clean. Probably the simplest as well. Is the black backing a rubber isolator?
Is that pre-DEI buyout a/d/s gear or the newer stuff?Comment

That looks to me like a PQ10, circa 1992...long before DEI bought anything.
Ken, remind me to send you a chunk of 8ga black wire.

Now if I could only get him to come work for me for $3/hr, all would be good in my life.
Seriously, that is some fine work.

Luke,
You'll get a kick out of this. I moved recently and found a OLD clifford alarm when clearing out some junk. So I email this chick at DEI and they are going to honor the lifetime warentee, and replace it with something newer. With the alarm I found it's paperwork - I bought it in 1992.
I know what they will send is junk, I'm just going to velcro it in the trunk and use it as for the door lock till it takes a shit.
1992, 15 freaking years ago...DEI is a weird company.

Most DEI has a killer range, so if you want remote start, I will sell you a remote start brain (add-on type) for $50 shipped.

The plan was to build a false panel with a cutout for the face of the sub, so the only visible thing was the face of the sub. Thats why nothing was carpeted. My system got stolen before I was able to finish it.Comment
