    You need to give more info... Does your girlfriend want to get seriousand get multiple lenses and such? what will she be shooting mainly?

    amen to that. pick up each one and see what fits comfortably in your hands. xti is much cheaper than the xsi if you're on a limited budget. can't really speak much for nikon's since i only shoot canon...

    I've got the xsi and i love it. pretty intuitive, so it's easy to learn. also has a lot of "basic" modes that don't really require much input.

    read up on it, you'll fall in love. just like i did.

    ive got the sony a300, pretty bitchin camera with live view, great resoulution, and a tiltable LCD.
    would highly recommend it. But it can be a bit pricey

    Get the Canon Rebel XTi. that what i got. and its fairly easy to learn.
    or something a little better, you should try the rebel xsi.

    What is a good starting camera to get? I've been looking online but the problem is I'm not sure what specs I should be looking for. I'm getting it for my GF and shes only had point and shoot camera's before.
