Trying to arrange travel by train even in Warsaw, were you would expect to find at least 1 english speaking worker, was a chore. I remember in Gdansk on our first time their we spent 2 hours in the train station trying to explain what a eurorail pass was to the ticket lady and my gf speaks polish. All that being said I did enjoy my time in Poland a lot especially Zakopane.

    edit: Nice pics!

Thats the north for ya. Ive heard the population isnt as friendly to foreigners central to northern poland from my GF's family.

The south is where its at. Some of the nicest and most welcoming people Ive ever met. Gdow is a small town and her family is fairly well known thru their children. Her GP's told a few people that my GF was coming home for a month and that she was bringing her BF....2 months later half the town knew. I swear everytime we went into town or walking/riding here or there I was being watched like a celebrity. lool!! Its like "ohh theres that american boy we heard about staying with blah blah blah." They were all extremely friendly even though I spoke very little polish. When I did though it seemed to delight them more than ever. lol Kinda cool.

And yes, Zakopane was the shizz. First time ever being up on a real mountain. :D

        Oooookk.

Most beautiful country I have ever been to
Flattering, but even I can point some other countries more beautiful (Costa Brava in Spain does it for me)

What part of warsaw are you from? I have to make a trip there one of these days
The very downtown. Lemme know when you're coming. Oh, and bring a BBK for my E30 with you - those things cost 2x as much in here... ;)

I was just about to say - speaking Polish doesn't help much... ;) The railways are sort of communistic relict - that lady at the ticket counter eating a sandwich - it's her way, or no way.

All I can explain to you is that you just have to know how to deal with them. For some reason I would love to deal with that if it meant going back and living in Poland again.
Ah yes - the chellenge of every day life when nothing is simple - I missed that when I lived in States. ;)

Knowing how difficult it is to learn Polish for a foreigner, we are always impressed when we see one speaking our language - we apreciate the effort ;)

And yes I would love to see more of your photos.
        Stay tuned.

I have heard the same about the French. I guess they're actually nice in the South...

My best friend just actually left today to live for a while in downtown Warsaw. He is starting an internship at some pharma company. I should be visiting him in the spring sometime :)

The unfriendly Poles were unfortunately not only restricted to the ticket lady but they were definetly the worst and definetly stuck in communist times. I heard the younger people are much nicer and friendly but I was there as recently as last summer and have yet to experience many nice polish people.

I found Parisians to be very nice surprisingly. Maybe that was just my experience though. The southerners were also extremely nice.
