i think putting the date on it is a good idea. and it wouldn't be hard for the winner to make a multiples for the next few years all at once.

its like that in the german flag colors umbrella one. just throwing all the ideas out, it would be easy to tweak to exactly what you want later on.

I dig the umbrella idea. Not so sure about the font or having it replace the second "i" in Picnic though.

An umbrella AND and an implication of an E30 would be nice.

Having some sort of car reference makes it easier for those not in the know to know that the event is car related.

personally, i think it may be one to many elements for a logo, but thats just me. should be the name/word/phrase + one memorable image.
