    No. But pins shall be greased regularly, especially on a car that sees high brake temps from the track use.

    Lithium or copper grease work well.

      check for binding on the caliper carrier. the pad was most likely bound, or turned, in the carrier.

      ive seen cars in the past [not e30s yet] bend the backing plate like a pretzel because of binding

        Thanks, I'll check that out. I think I would have seen some noticeable scoring when I pulled the pad, but I'll take a look anyway.

          i always get the calipers mixed up. how was the out side pad because if that pad bound up then more force would go in to the inner pad
