    Class me please

I didn't look through the rules for this season, and since it's winter series and not worth points, it's probably not worth much to be classed wrong, but I'm curious as to where I should be when the Summer season starts up....

    1990 325i
    Mark D Chip
    GC Coils w/ Plates
    17x8 Wheels
    235/40/17 Star Specs.....

Sorry if this seems lazy, I looked a little bit around, but I don't know dick about classing for the SCCA in general, and I know the BMW club has a nice calculator I can use later on... So for now, hopefully you guys can help me out.

Your 8" wide wheels and 235 tires bump you from ST to STX. Read here http://cms.scca.com/documents/Solo_R...categories.pdf

Alright cool, I had a feeling it might be STX. Can anyone confirm?

Depending on your region, you may have better luck running DSP. When I was doing autox, I was the region DSP class champion, but my times weren't as good as the top two STX guys (STX is pretty competitive in my area, DSP wasn't).

DSP is usually a ghost town and a few people I knew ran DSP just so they could rack up the points.... STX and STU are a nightmare.... Are all my mods legal for DSP and STX? If so, I'll just pick whichever the other local e30 guys run and have a good time.... I know the e30 isn't going to be competitive, especially locally, so I'm just looking to have a good time.

Don't forget the 4.10 lsd swap. Unless ratio changes are legal you are out of STX. DSP's the place to be, you can keep your rear seats out iirc.

DSP sounds fine I guess. I don't think I have the numbers for it so I'll have to make some new ones.... I just put my rear back in and conditioned / cleaned my interior, and swapped my front seats side to side.

Just go to McGuckins and get some magnet sheets to stencil and cut out. Depending on the temp and whether my floor jack is fixed I'll either come rock the E30 in DSP with you (and get spanked) or bring the M3 and run SM (and get spanked). Should be fun!

McGuckin carries the sheet? Awesome, cause I didn't really wanna order it online again.... I learned when I had the STi, that that simple stuff gets VERY expensive when you order online... I'd rather buy sheets of it and make my own letters and numbers....

Also, I'm gonna try to have a jack there as well... My car needs some work before the race, so hopefully I can get it all worked out, maybe a hand would be nice (not necessarily saying you David lol). Email me if you want. I just have a lot to get done.

Yea, if I remember right they have the 18x18 or something sheets near the paint and signage aisles. The sheets were all of $12 or something, not bad at all. I printed out templates from rmsolo.org and went crazy with an xacto knife, but for $12ish I'm not complaining.

Haha I'll help if I can. School's kicking my ass currently.

Your method is EXACTLY what I was thinking lol. I was gonna print out those numbers and letters and just do it myself... I'll go Friday maybe if I have some time... I gotta dig up all my old autocrossing stuff and see what needs to be replaced.

and school is kicking my ass now too that we've started...

Well.... I was saying how bored I was not working or going to school.... It's just hectic at first, after a week or two i'll settle in and everything will be fine....

I'll be signing up for DSP probably tonight or tomorrow.... I have a running list of things to do, and registering is on that list... I DID get the car registered, but not a number or class
