cool. I just ran my s50 e30 in an autocross in norcal on sunday. It was a lot of fun. That looks like a longgggg course. Courses up here are usually less than 60 seconds.

That is an unnecessary amount of cones, I can't imagine having to line everyone of them before the event. Lime is for lining the course as a guide, cones are for designating the critical points.

Ground Control with Koni SA's, GC Camber plates, Eibach sways

The most recent addition is a Massive Street kit which was worth every penny. That made a huge difference when autocrossing.

Convertibles start out heavier. The 24v swap adds a little weight as it is a heavier engine. I'm using the Getrag 260 trans (the one that goes with the M20). That trans is said to be lighter than a ZF E36 trans. My car still has the battery in the front. I have air conditioning. A custom roll bar and I was running last weekend with my hardtop on the car.

With all that weight I ran the 5th fastest time of the day (with fewer runs than everyone else) with a field of 86 cars. Many of those cars pushing more horsepower.

Sorry, long answer but the answer is if you like your E30 convertible and plan on using it for a while, adding an S50 is a great upgrade.

Important note -- with convertibles being heavier and the 24v engine being a little heavier than the M20 you should definitely upgrade the brakes.

This was my first autocross with my new Massive Street BBK and it makes a huge difference. I went with that kit because I have 2 sets of Ronal ACT LS wheels and the Massive Street kit fits with 15" wheels.

For autocross use, you can easily get away with some nice pads / fluid IMHO. It's when you keep lapping a car (something you don't do in autocross other than Enduro runs) BBK really pays for itself.
