    Roll bar recommendations

I'm in the market for a roll bar, but see a few different options out there. I was wondering the pros and cons for each of them. Kirk and Autopower were two that I found. Any others? Thanks.

    VSR!

It fits tight up against the roof of the car and is very unobtrusive. I helped install one MikeK's fuhraze E30. It's $595, but I believe it ships freight due to it being fairly unwieldy.

There is no substitute for a custom roll cage, properly fitted and installed by someone who knows exactly what they are doing. If you're putting a bar in for looks that's one thing. If you plan on having your life depend on it that's quite another.

The original poster inquired about a Roll Bar. Not a Roll Cage.
I would agree that a Roll Cage necessitates having a custom built setup for the specific car.

A Roll Bar for HPDE/Auto-X does not need to be custom fabricated.

The VSR roll bar is versatile enough to allow you to still squeeze spare wheels/tires into the back seat when transporting track tires to and from the event, and still provides the single best fitment on the market outside of a fully custom built setup. Even then, I've seen "custom" built setups with fitment on par with something built out of marshmellows and toothpicks.

Shipping via Freight to your location in MD would likely run ~$150, and we can save you some money be shipping the bar to a commercial address.

        Kind Regards,
        Chris

I had a Kirk before I went to a welded in custom setup and I was happy with it. I've seen the VSR and Autopower ones. The VSR looks like a darn good unit.

          I'd steer clear of Autopower.

How did you like the Kirk? How was the fit?

With the headliner still in the car, it was nice and tight.

What are you using the cage for? Show or track. DE or Race?

Thread is called "Roll bar recommendations".

You're not going to be able to race in any series using just a roll bar. A roll bar is one of the safer ways to mount 6 point harnesses besides a full cage.

If you're going for "show" you'd just jury rig something out of DOM and your upper seatbelt eyelets and slap on 3" pink Sparco shoulder padz on expired harnesses.

that is good for any m20. im interested as well, i want to move my powerband farther up the rev range in my 2.7i...

i like the VSR cage, i'd pick one up vs a sparco harness bar. the harness bar is already 495, an extra 100 at that point would be a bargain

I spent a shit load of time and money. I have 6+ hours of dyno time tuned on sunoco GT100 power drops off at 6000RPM so it is a great low revving motor. Do not try to move your power band up, try to make more power down low!
