    My first autocross today!

Unfortunately my e30 was in pieces, so i had to drive my mazda6. It was at the car craft show in minnesota. I only got one run in before the rain hit, but in that one run i ran 2 seconds faster than a v8 audi s4 and 7 seconds slower than a dodge viper.

Definitely doing it again when i get my e30 put back together... which will be soon, as i lost the starter in the mazda during tech inspection.

Pretty sure Vipers are over 3400 lbs.. Which isn't super heavy or anything considering they have a V10.

I've never been to an autox where an Audi was competetive. I'm sure it happens, but most Audi guys are all show, no go..

                lol...

AutoX is fun, but HPDE/Open Track Days are also great because you get more seat time and stretch the cars legs a bit more.

Sure theres no place id like to spend my weekend more than on an open road course, buyt after tires and pads Im spent. Pay 40-50 bucks to auto-x - its the next best thing.

does anyone really think a 4000lb pig of a car with a 60/40 f/r weight split is going to be competetive against say, a 2200lb turbo miata? be honest here. Most of them show up once with bling CF hoods, shiny 19" forged wheels, turbo upgrades, etc, place last and never come again. plus they wouldn't want to get a cone scuff on their beautiful paint..

I like autocross. I like to get to the limits of adhesion everywhere. If I spin, no big deal.

I thought so but I was just ranting. :p

and sort of bringing up a point about comparing yourself to other cars rather than drivers. There have been some really slow porsches, vipers, corvettes, miatas, you name it. And some really fast Kias. My favorite was a gutted Lancer Evo (guy even took off the door handles and mirrors) that came dead last. He was like 6 seconds slower than a guy in a rental Kia Rio..

I remember my first autocross.... I was in a honda and my buddies in modified Subaru's. While I was faster than the subaru's, we all got spanked by a mid 80's volvo wagon/tank.

                            I loved it

I love autox. Especially running in a stock 300+k miles e30 and being faster then some of the newer fancy'er cars out there.

And its always nice to see your not so average 'race' cars running. Turbo volvos,80's honda accord, stripped hyundai accent lol.

i would love to do some actually track laps tho but for now autox is more than enough weekend fun for me.
