    Hood & Trunk pins

For those running these, please post up pics of hood and trunk pins installed and mounting locations under the panel...I would like to get an idea of options out there......
Also how much of the OEM mechanism did you remove?
    Thanks in advance

I would of thought this hood pin feature would of been cool had it came standard on all E30 M3's being that the M3 pretty much came from the track to the show room floor. I dig the look of them.

I like the hood pin idea.. ditch the hinge and have a pull-off hood! Even better than a flip forward hood IMO. :)

Thanks guys examples look good....Did any of the factory cars use pins ie Bastos, Prodrive, Yacco and the Warstiener cars or the OEM mechanism?

It was awesome to be the only one on track to have the pop-up last-lap major cooling feature, and at less than half the OEM weight.
But I do like to look of hood pins. Except the gay fake ones.

Seems the Bastos car did have pins.

Just noticed they have three pins up front, none in back. Maybe they use the back slide/in hunges, but the front popup mechanism is deleted.
That's a pretty damn good idea actually.

I've been using the rear sliders with front pins. My hood is pretty ridged so 2 pins hold it down just fine. After some off season hood hacking, I will re-evaluate my need for a 3rd front pin.

For the front pins I drilled through my core support and welded in a piece of tubing that extends completely through the core. I tapped the tubing for the same thread size/pitch as the pins. The pins are then secured with a jamb nut.

mines similar to iflytii, stock hood using stock rear sliders and two aerocatch pins in the front mounted on the core support.

I have a VIS "carbon fiber" hood. It has all the provisions for stock mounting so the rear sliders still work well on it.
It's pretty rigid (thus the need only for 2 front pins) but it's also pretty heavy. It's going on a diet this off season!

I found the pic of the rear I was looking for that shows the pins. I used 4 pins, 2 in the corners closest to the C-Pillars and 2 on the flat portion through the plastic trim right above the reverse lights. The rear trunk I'm using has an inner support so I worked with that for reinforcing my wing and located the pin to use my wing mounts for support.

                              have an ireland fiberglass hood.

definately put (3) three pins on the leading edge.

over 100, the hood flexes and lifts in the center about 6". cheers, jason
