i think drifting is silly, but it's pretty cool you placed 3rd in your first event, since i'm guessing some of people you "beat" had done this more than once.

I have done many autox's until my buddy who has been drifting for a long time convinced me to enter the event. I got my spare diff welded and went out there having never drifted my car before. Drifting is waaaay more fun. I really like to way the drift comps are set up as elimination rounds. It really puts the pressure on you to do well every run rather than only putting down one good one.
Do you think you would have done good if it wasn't wet? You have an M42 car right? I'd imagine it being a lot harder to slide a M42 if it were dry. Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm not doubting your abilities WHAT SO EVER. I can't do anything remotely like that, (M42 owner here), and I am just curious.

I could see it being done in the dry with lowering springs. I got the m10 sideways, but also up on two wheels... :-\ With a welded diff it's a lot easier though.
I drift my m42 on stock blown suspension all the time. you just needa to carry more momentum into it. I love drifting, one of the greatest forms of car control, it's a shame that there are alot of boy racers and bozo wannabes affiliated with it.

I think it will do fine in the dry. in that event i was running 225's with near stock tire pressure. i have a set of basketweaves with some 195's inflated to 55 psi that I will throw on the rear for the next dry event.

I completely agree... with a underpowered car, momentum is you best friend, no matter what kind of racing your doing.
And yes there was a wannabe at that event. The kid had a totally tricked out s14 with a sr20, widebody kit with "hella flush" rims, roll cage gutted interior, the works. he couldn't make it one run without spinning out. I guess he thought because he knew how to do donuts and look cool that he could drift.
