Quick release hubs

What are you guys doing for quick release steering wheel hubs?

That depends. If it's a track car only, then get a weld-on one $50. I have one that is bolt-on $250 though

i've used an NRG one in the past on another car. used it for a year till i sold the car no isues, held tight with no play

I hate quick releases that you need to push little pins to use, like the NRG one.

I'm a big fan of the Sparco style ones where you pull a ring right behind the wheel to release it.

I'm running the VAC one which operates similarly to the Sparco one.

I hate quick releases that you need to push little pins to use, like the NRG one.

FYI, you can remove the pin.

I would recommend not getting one of the basic hex style weld on ones as there is quite a bit of slop in them. I've got the NRG and am pretty happy with it, inexpensive, no slop and it only goes on one way so you don't have to worry about your steering wheel not being centered. There are quite a few threads about QRs in the bimmerforums track section.

So I still need a momo hub to use with the weld on hubs? The wheel bolts directly to that, but I only see 3 holes for the wheel to bolt to?

no, NRG slim adapter + NRG slim quick release + new steering wheel = done

In my opinion the best quick release is a Snap:Off Race release (see http://www.tekniqauto.com/US/snapoff/snapoff.htm). It only goes on the column in one position, is easy to get on and off, and has no slop when the wheel is mounted. The hub release types are harder to get on and off and frequently don't rigidly lock the wheel to the column.

^^^ this is one I have also and like it but i have to wonder, you need to pull in both pins to release,So if i ever got in an accident and broke an arm, it's impossible for me to get out of my car ..

Thank guys, but I don't want the NRG hub. I really like the idea of the weld on hub. Does anyone have any personal experience with one?

bimmerworld carries the weld on ones. I use the rogue one. happy with it so far. it does have a release pin but you can remove that.
