auto x tire ?

i am kinda with you on this one if you read a lot of Grassroots mags when the do tire testing most of the names you see are kumho, dunlops, falken, bridgestone, nitto some others i might be forgetting. cant say i've seen many BFGs at my local auto cross events. i see a lot of dunlops and Kumho tires.

what kind of kuhmos? i had a set of ecstas and any real hard cornering in 3rd i would get loose pullin out of the turn. i havnt really had the chance to do any hard conering with my BFGs but once my motor is back in ill be able to tell a little more...
plus is it not true that BFG is the first street tire to pull a 1g turn?

There are "sporty tires" that are still crap (aka: BFGs) and there are autoX tires that are mere tenths off of DOT race tires (aka: re-11, rs-3, XS, azenis). If you want maximum grip but don't mind <10k miles go w. the latter.

This summer I'm planning on giving the Toyo R1R's a go. They seem to have a good rep overseas (where they have been available for years) and have the exact minimum UTQ rating for BMW CCA Auto cross, so they should be pretty grippy. We'll see how they do...

Raced a season with NT-01's on a non-e30. They were great! Just got a set for this seasons autox for my e30. RS3's are pretty sweet too. Done an event on a set of those.

I have falken azenis. I couldn't be happier

Ugh. They're loud and not that grippy. They're great for cheap autocross, but they're hardly competitive.

OP, get the Hankook RS3. Amazing tire. Otherwise, Dunlop Star Spec.

The cheapest competitive tires are probably Kumho XS or Hankook R-S3.
