    The ZF manual from E36 / E37 cars is lighter than the Getrag. I don't have any numbers on hand to support this claim but I remember this from when I did my swap (2010).

      Some people have already touched on this some, but the weight distribution (center of gravity location) is not the only issue. Mounted in the same location, an M50 is going to have noticeably more inertia than an M42.

      That said, there's no way I would pull out a M50 for an M42.
