What size are the Star Specs? I just bought a set of those same RS3's.

Nice! I'll be very interested to hear a review on these. What size wheel are these being fitted on?

A bunch of us (R3v members) have been going with these lately. I love mine. They were great at the first track day and will be hitting a 2nd track day on Saturday. I was slightly less impressed with their grip at a couple of autocrosses. It seems that getting some heat in them improves the grip significantly. I suppose this is probably true with most tires.

The Star Specs were actually 195/55, they look like skinnies compared to the rs3 :)
Everyone has been raving about them and have been recommended by many people.Im sure there gonna be great. There going on my 15x7s Will have pics once installed

I guess my curiosity lies with which tire is, overall, better at the track. May be hard to justify a comparison here with such a difference in width and diameter. Those are gonna look meaty as fuck on a 15x7 lol. Love it.

I'd be interested in how they work out on a track as well. I keep reading that 225 might be a little sloppy on a 15x7, at least compared to a 205.

I'm sure they'll still grip strong as shit though :)

I ran a set of rs in 225 on 15x8 last year for autox and loved them. great grip and takes a lot to get them to grease up

Ya your right for sure, I guarantee after my first session Ill get out freaking for how good these are, but it may just be from extra inch of contact patch that each tire has. BUT, everyone else seems to prefer these over many other options, Bishop had normally sized Star Specs 225/45 I think?? And he said these are better by miles....but who knows, we each have to try them out:D

well honestly, bishop probably isn't that far off. I mean, aside from this tire, Dunlop makes complete shit. The only other tire I ever contemplated was the dz101 for DD. After running those, I realized they were good for smokey drifts and losing control when it rains the slightest amount. I was done with Dunlop. I've always wanted to give the star spec a shot though. Hankook has been making great slicks for quite some time so I imagine the RS3's will make you grin ear to ear. :P

You are the first person to even hint at the fact that Star Specs may be anything but amazing. I intend on getting a set here in a little bit, and all around the internet when I post that I am, all I get are replies saying "Those are awesome tires, we rally/autox/track on them all the time!".

It would not surprise me if the Hankooks top them out. They cost more, they better perform better
But I'm relatively certain that the Star Specs have some pretty awesome rubber (says the guy who hasn't actually worn a pair yet).

The star specs are pretty amazing and Im sure any guy that runs them will agree you'll be pleased. I got to experienced these tires in an e36 though. I was just speaking of the rest of the Dunlop line being, well basically crap. tire for tire(in the same size), I wouldnt doubt the rs3's would most likely outperform the z1's. It would all be relative to the car, track conditions, climate, blah blah blah though.
