There was an e46 M in my group last weekend. It was slammed with some exhaust that made the car scream like an exotic. Beautiful car, but I beat him by like 4 seconds.

Shit, I beat a 2010 Nissan GT-R at the last autox in my COMPLETELY stock e30 (I did have race rubber though). It all goes to show that 80% of autox is driver skill. Props though, it is sooooo much fun beating a car you assume to be a lot faster than yours.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well the car did first time out. The open diff really hurt as I wasn't able to put power down, & the suspension is pretty soft. However, it really has me thinking that a well built E30 could do well in SCCA's STX class, my times were respectable considering the car has ZERO developement. The one issue I see is gearing...with the short 225/45-15 RS3s I hit the top of 2nd gear very quickly, even with a Mark D chip (my guess is 52-55 MPH max), so I may need to explore trying to fit 16 or 17" tire/wheel sizes.

Anyway, very fun event, see you all at the next one in June!

What suspension you running?
I had same issue with gearing, I run 3.73 lsd rear with same tires and wheels and was bouncing of the rev limiter in some spots.

I really need to get some camber plates as the front would wash out on some of the more high speed turns.

Run a different diff or is that against STX rules? (sorry I am in SM)
