From stock to Turner chipped, 1/4 mile times enclosed

So I'm new to here, but not new to forums/cars. I'm a big 1/4 mile guy, as fun as I've found the e30 to be in the twisties, 1/4 mile races are a big part of who I am (other car was a 12 second Galant VR-4). So I went to the track, with my bone stock 325e e30.

Before chip: 17.25@80.4mph. Note, I was consistently in the 17.5 range at 79mph that day and never managed to replicate this pass.

After chip, 2 weeks later: 16.75@83.92mph. Nice little boost from the Turner chip.

I posted this because I searched before I found the chip and never found anything saying before/after times. I can only restate how much drivability has improved, the car is far more responsive above 4k rpm and holds this responsiveness right to 5300 rpm.

Just thought I'd ad my newbie contribution, comments are obviously welcome!

They're Michelin somethings lol...195/65/14s on stock bottlecaps.

I should also add the car needs at least the diff bushings replaced too, I get crazy wheel hop if I give it too much gas. I think with a mechanically solid rear and suspension I could cut a few more 1/10s and get up to the real low 85 mph range.

As much as I don't care for 1/4 mile racing/times, it's always good to see direct comparisons like this.

glad to see a comparison. you should really only look at the trap times, so maybe 3-4mph difference.

I went from ~73mph to 80mph trap with a rich megasquirt tune and losing 200lbs.

I also have the lowly 325e. I have the Dinan chip, and its a different car with the chip. Feels like more than a .5 sec difference, but you have the numbers. Try upgrading your diff bushing to a PowerFlex as the launches are outstanding with that bushing changed. My car just explodes off the start line now.

you should be running mid 16s stock. that is a very tired engine.

No, its a very tired diff bushing. I can't give the car any kind of launch at all or I hop the tires and lose time.

And to the question of the weather, it was 86 the first week and 92 yesterday. So it was hotter yesterday.

Was there a difference in the time of day ie day vs night? Track temp is why I am asking. I like these comparisons keep it up and good luck with your build!

Both were night time track days, humidity the first was 84% and the second was 79%.

Not bad - ~4 mph and more than half second improvement with just a chip.

Even once someone figures in any impact from the Temp/humidity (hard to tell for sure, but with those numbers, I'd expect it to be a wash or slightly worse conditions for the chipped run), hard to argue the significant improvement (well outside of weather related noise).

Not sure if it would be possible, but once you get the new bushings back there, it would be pretty awesome if you could run the stock chip and Turner on the same night.
