    E30 - SM class 1st and 3rd finish

So, I ran out of talent lol and team orders did not work by 0.1 second so I ended up with 3rd place finish this season in local SM chapter with my co driver taking the championship and 08 mustang GT taking 2nd.

There was a very good chance at taking 2nd away from the GT but I fucked it up.

Anyways, next season shooting for 1st/2nd if the co-driver is still down to race the car. I am a little bit dissapointed with taking 3rd instead of 2nd, but considering I had almost 2 seasons off, and there were a couple little issues with the car at the beginning of the season (brake bias / diff ) 1st and 3rd is not too bad for first season with the current config. We took 6 or 7 consecutive 1st/2nd places back to back, but the car needs more power and more grip on the longer corses where a higher hp and bigger tire car can stretch its legs.

Anyway, thanks for Blunt for all the goodies even on short notices and r3v for pushing me to put the e30 back at the top lol. Thanks to wanganstyle for building me a diff :) thanks buddy! Thanks for Charlie (Pinepig) for giving me a hand with working on the car!

Next season, bigger engine and more tire :) Now with 3rd and 2nd place trophy's I need to get 1st next year!

Thats the plan! :) Mathematically it was almost impossible to take 2nd away from the GT because of the points but it was still fun.

I believe we were both faster than a GT3 and running not far behind fast CSP and BSP cars :)

Sat in the passenger seat of the Super 7 today, WOW, talk about ON FUCKING RAILS!

GL next year! Proof that the E30 can be plenty fun/competetive in something other than a stock/street tire class! I did manage 1st in SM in 2008, but I've missed the last 3 seasons. :( When I do go back it's going to take a while to get up to par again. I was at the point in 2008 that I could have taken FTD locally. Not anymore.. I barely squeaked into the top 10 at a slush event in February.

              Congratulations.

Is there a build thread somewhere, and I'm just failing to find it?

Nice job. I just finished 1st in TIR yesterday. My first win in autocross. I'm in FSP and I don't want to go to SM anytime soon. I have race rubbers coming soon and I hope to get them on before the event this weekend and run tire unlimited FSP.

                cheers!

Thanks all! "Missed opportunity" is the word that kept spinning in my head after watching italian gp lol.

Anyways, next season should be interesting and I've deff. learned a few things that I can bring into next season.

cenotaph - I do, but the pics may not show up as the previous host went down. It's an 84 chassis with m30b35 swap, gc coils/plates/rsms, re-valved bilstein sports, offset lcabs, oem subrame/trailing arm bushings, akg engine/tranny mounts, trm 15x8 wheels, kumho v710/hoosier r6 tires (ran out of v710s and ran some used r6s at the back) for half season. Rebuilt 3.46 diff. Stock steering rack (for now), stock 325i front/rear disc brakes, using street pads, aggressive hawk pads made it too easy to lock up the front w/o abs.

Congrats on the results! Bigger engine and more tires sounds like a winning combo to me! :-)

Congrats on the results! Just out of curiousity, why the 3.46? I'm guessing to be able to stay in 2nd longer?

Congrats Jean. You're an inspiration, as always. I may talk to you about that differential build.

Thanks. Did you purposely remove ABS, or did it break and you didn't fix it? I have an 89 325 set up for DSP with broken ABS. I'm trying to come up with ways to work around it if I can't fix it. I hadn't thought of the BBK up front and the more aggressive pads making things worse.
