    Street Prepared Spoilers

Anyone done one? I have yet to see one on an e30... I just picked up a spare trunk to do this, but I was wondering if anyone had more insight.

Haven't ben to a large event in a whie, but can't say that I ever remember seeing anybody running an E30 with anything more than the stock spoiler.

Dug this out of my old pics, IIRC this was Alex Shchipkov's old car? (I may be wrong) but no spoiler there.

interesting. It's the higher-speed sections that I do get a little unsettling in the rear if I whip it too hard. the car is very neutral but it's not fantastic when you point the car where it should go and the rear end wants to keep going the other way for a few feet. most of the time it's not that big of a deal, but for long, highspeed slaloms that have plenty of time to get the car to rotate I want to get power down and get to the next gate. I'm gonna put one together and see how it feels, notsure if it will improve my times, but everyone else in my club who is in FSP runs some sort of spoiler if they're serious(nationals). Most of the guys are FWD, however so I guess they have ridiculously large rear bars.

Anyway... it's all about trial and error. I hope to do another T&T event to get it all sorted.

Wings seem to work. Just keep in mind that a wing that works for conepacking is almost completely unstreetable (and untrackable).

Here's the only other pics I have of that car. Never met the owner, and don't really know anything about it except that I THINK it was Alex Shchipkov's old car. Anybody else have any information on this car?

To the OP, I don't know if this helps at all, but I also found this in my pics from the same event (Peru National Tour 2008 )

This can be really confusing, but the OP is actually talking about a spoiler, and NOT a wing. SCCA differentiates between the two. A wing is what you see above ^^^^^. A spoiler is like what is below

Gotcha, didn't really think about that, and I haven't looked into the rules at all to see what the SCCA allows for usage of either one.

Bascily you have to make a huge wall. I think 10 inches is the max. Look up Doug Rowse and his car. I recomend a spliter too. I made one for my car a while back but it was just a carboard template. A guy here local has one on his E36. He put it on with those nuts you crush when they tighten.

yeah. Technically a spoiler can't have air flow under it. and a spoiler is the maximum allowed in street prepared. Yes 10" out of the bodywork is maximum allowed.

I've picked up lexan for the project. it should be... interesting.

                          that e36 is ridiculous.
