best way to VIR (with a big honking trailer)

I'm going to VIR this weekend. I have a 48' trailer. What's the best way in from western ohio.... I went the wrong way last time and don't want to do that again. I think we went home thru roanoke on that trip and it was a more trailer friendly route.... Any suggested rig friendly routes?

are you worried about the route through the mountains or once you get closer to the Danville/Alton area?

we came down some twisty, switchbacked road last time. we just had the dually and it wasn't fun... we talked to some guys with a transporter and they got us up to roanoke from danville... looking at the map i'm assuming it was 29... i'm guessing getting to roanoke the flatest way possible and then taking 29 to danville...??? is 29 truck friendly?

29 should be truck friendly because it's the only highway to supply all the towns along it. been awhile since i was last at vir but i do know that i took 29 all the way down from dc.

THAT was a mistake. i should have taken 95. but if you're coming from OH..

We ended up taking 460 down to 58 into danville... it was a lot better trip in this time... we took 29 north going back home to skip the sillyness in martinsville... we had a so-so weekend. Got to see some GREAT bimmers and we were pitted next to the bimmerworld team. i was standing right there when they picked up the hood to check an oil leak and the car was on fire. i grabbed a fire bottle but someone had put a tie-wrap on the pin. by the time i got it undone someone else had doused the fire... our acura had major fuel cell foam failure and took us out for a few hours... did i mention how great the bimmers were?

                  thanks for everyone input!
