What tires should I run on a 15x8 rim?

Look closely at Alex's fenders...extreme hammer work!! That will be necessary with anything over a 225/50 on a 7" rim. That size, by the way, is the ideal race tire size (or a 225/45). Chuck

Autocross is an entirely different animal that aggressive street or DE driving. Would you run on the street with some of the low pressures you use in autox? Probably not. Running a tire that's under the maximum allowable will give better handling due to the geometry of the tire bead on the wheel, while possibly providing a small loss in ultimate grip throughout the pressure range.

If you use the proper wheels, going larger is preferable, although the added rolling resistance and slower turn in doesn't make much sense on a purely street car.

Low pressures in auto-x? I disagree. I actually start out with lower pressures on the track accomodating larger increase in temps.

Traction is all about contact patch. Tires are so stiff these days that it doesn't matter as much.

I use a 205 at the moment and my times are competitive in my class. And I run with guys that use R's and I use crappy tires.

Might want to get consistent first.

225/50/15 for the 15x8, plenty of choices there,

245/50 or 45/15 you have very limited choices< dunlop sp8000 has a 245/50/15, the only street tire I know of in that size.

Hosier has track only tires in 245/45 or 50/ 15, recommend a 15x8.5 rim for a 245 tire.

For most it seems the best compromise for a street tire and track tire is a 225/50/15 on a 15x7.5 or 8 inch rim.

My current set up is the Kosie 15x8 with the BFG KD 225/50/15,

I would love to see a tire maker make a 245/45/15, street tire, maybe they are listing
