Particularly if you have a professional shop do the work. The car in the ad looks like a better start than what you have. Plus, if it is Spec e30 that is your goal, the 1990i is a much better base from which to start than an eta.

    I have a spec e30 and am very curious about an ITA eta as I think it would be a blast. But, this hobby is all about how much time and money one has to spend. I don't have enough of either. My guess is that it would take a lot more time and money to make an eta competitve than it would to make an already modded i into mid pack Spec e30.

    Good Luck
    Trust me I know it costs more, been there done that numerous times. lol Bought my last ITA car "almost" ready to race and even "almost" is expensive.

    I wouldn't be making this competitive though, just the required stuff and a few housekeeping items so it's not ITC speed and have fun with it, primarily enduros. I still plan on renting other cars next year that would be more competitive.

    Not looking to do Sped E30, not a fan of NASA.

    Nice E30 in the ad but for that much I could have a race ready car. With that said I've sort of detoured away from the idea of building a car, working on my E30 yesterday I remembered I hate working on cars and only want to drive, so I'll just look for a race ready car and play with that, doesn't have to be an E30 though.

      That is a bit high for a car without a cage. Which is going to be your biggest initial cost. Like I said before, $7k is about the minimum to build a club racing legal car.. you can check my build thread, it breaks down each cost. Most "proven" track cars go for 10k and up..

      If you don't care the car model, sign up for BAT, and watch the Craigslist in your area, you can occasionally find someone bailing on ex-pro7 or spec rabbit cars for cheap.

          Faster != better.

          Or else no one would race Miata's.. Faster usually means more $$$. The faster your car is, the harder it will be on brakes, tires, and suspension parts. If you're complaining about dropping 10k on a car, then you want something slower.

            Depends, you can run a GTA car for decently priced.

            Just looking for something a little more peppy though, not stupid fast, I love driving momentum cars.

            I've decided to just rent and see what's out there and just drive the E30 as a daily until it blows. lol

              ...and anyway, the E30's not the top of the ITA heap, not for a long time now...

              thus, Spece30, Pro3, etc...
