I understand your delima" I really like driving but can't honestly afford it". If you like it enough you'll be able to afford it. The first month I drove my e30 I knew I was addicted.Two years down the road I work two jobs and my local e30 mechanic ( now close friend) can't get me out of his shop.

bringing this back from the dead. Think of trying some drifting out this summer, how many rear tires am I going to need to bring out? I've got some crappy all seasons that i wouldn't mind destroying.

depends on the track. Some tracks you'll kill lots of tires. Some tracks you can last on a single set all day.

For us evergreen is a shitty pavement track. On average a dry day the grassroots guys running the 3/8 track can make a brand new set last almost a full day. The guys running the 5/8 corner can go 2 or 3 full tandem runs on a brand new set.


If your broke dick and running shitty 30% take offs or junkyard tires expect to go through 3 or 4 pairs for a full day.

Anyone drifting a stock rebuilt M20 on a new stock clutch?

Curious as to what clutch I should get. Just starting to get my feet wet. Someone told me to get Spec Stage 2. Just looking for opinions and reviews from experience!

stock motor you shouldn't need anything more than stock clutch. Get the sachs hd clutch if you feel you need something a little stronger.

Will most likely be a 2.7i, although I believe the Sachs HD would be fine?

My car drifted out of control this morning.....

Going as stiff as possible in the rear is bad information. A lot of people think that drifting requires the stiffest suspension possible and the least amount of grip...however that is ass backwards, you are going to want to allow suspension travel in the rear. On most of our cars we have the settings set to as soft as we can go in the rear on our coilovers, A little stiffness up front is fine but honestly its all in how you drive. Slight negative camber in the front will allow more grip when going sideways and a tad bit of positive camber in the rear will offer more grip and more smoke as well. The e30 is an amazing platform to slide though, its really fun and since its a little under powered you really begin to understand the physics of drifting. It isn't all about going into a corner and snatching an e brake...it's all about weight transfer and grip. At the end of the day...it's the most fun I have ever had and I absolutely live for it. KEEP DRIFTING FUN!

I really want to learn FINESSE, and weight transfer as well as momentum shifts, etc. The idea of drifting without needing big turbos, v8's, etc. excites me.
