    I want to change the angle of my steering wheel

    I don't like the school bus angle of our steering wheels, especially when harnessed into a fixed seat. I'm 5'9" and would prefer to bring the whole wheel down an inch or so. Has anyone made any attempt at changing this? If so, what was your method and results?

    Get a smaller wheel. We use like a 330mm one in our track car.

      This is not difficult to do. Getting the anti-tamper bolts out can be a bit of a challenge. I just weld a nut to them, but you can use a dremel and cut a slot in the heads. You'll need to make up bushings to space the column down and get new bolts.
      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

          I'm dropping mine a bit..
          We chopped the bolts and will be playing with it once the cage is done.
          Going to pair this up w. seat mounting fab.

            I just spent 2 hours bent over backward underneath my dash. I couldn't get a good angle to cut the heads on the safety bolts with a dremel, so I went to a regular drill. My bits were all dull as shit, so this took most of the time. I ran to Lowes for some longer bolts and spacers (washers). I put it back together with about a 3/4" spacer.

            The wheel now sits in a much more comfortable position. The only drawback is that the top of the wheel now blocks the top of my gauges. Kind of a bummer, but worth that sacrifice. Overall, I'm quite happy with the results.

                    there's always a way. assuming you either have alot of money, alot of fabrication skill, or alot of ingenuity ;)

                    that said, I don't see any easy way to do it.

                    Then again, once you replace the tamper-prroof bolts with regular bolts, all you have to do to adjust the angle is unbolt the bolts and change the size of the spacers....boom.

                      Ranger has done this to his SpecE30, lowered it 1 inch. I've seen other people use two steering couplers in order to achieve the angle they wanted.

                        Change out the steering column to a 7/8 rod or less, run it through an aurora rod end

                              to those who have done this: is the nut on the topside of the column bolts "loose" or is it welded to the bracket? I was unsuccessful at notching the anti-tamper bolts to try to "screw" them out, so will have to drill the heads off - and want to make sure I can pull them out the backside afterwards.
